AQUASANA EQ-300IP Cartridge Life
The EQ-300IP filer cartridge life varies with the amount of iron and manganese in your water:
- At 1 PPM, cartridges last up to 18 months
- At 3 PPM, cartridges last up to 6 months
- At 4.5 PPM, cartridges last up to 3 months
- Above 5 PPM, a water softener or regenerating iron removal system is needed
For low to moderate levels of iron, this is a very cost-effective solution.
EQ-300IP Whole House Iron Filter Installation
The EQ-300IP whole house filter is installed before another whole house filter, such as the RHINO EQ-300. This greatly increases the life of your primary whole house water filter.
The EQ-300IP is installed near the water's point of entry to your home, before the hot and cold water "split."
Installation by a licensed plumber is strongly recommended, because leaks near the point of entry can cause substantial damage to your home.
Easy Maintenance: Changing the Cartridge
The EQ-300IP filter cartridge should be replaced every 1-6 months, depending on the amount of iron in the water source (see above).
If you'd like to check whether the cartridge needs to be replaced, low cost drinking water iron tests are available.
To replace the EQ-300IP filter cartridge:
- Turn off the water supply
- Relieve pressure in the water system by opening a faucet near the unit
- Place a bucket under the filter housing
- Press the pressure release button on top of the filter housing to relieve any remaining water pressure
- Unscrew the filter housing
- Remove the old filter cartridge
- Wash out the filter housing as needed to remove any accumulation of debris
- Clean the housing o-ring and lubricate it with petroleum jelly
- Insert the new filter cartridge into the housing
- Screw the filter housing back on
- Slowly turn on the water supply valve and check for leaks
- In case of leaks, tighten connections or clean and reseat the o-ring
