Crystal Quest Hybrid UltraFiltration Bottleless Water Cooler
The Crystal Quest water cooler uses four filter cartridges that provide nine stages of filtration:
Stage 1: A sediment filter that removes 99.99% of cysts such as cryptosporidium and giardia. This stage also filters cloudiness, bad tastes and bad smells caused by fine microscopic particles known as sediment and turbidity.
Stage 2: A granular activated carbon (GAC) filter that removes chlorine and other contaminants that cause bad taste or odor including a wide variety of organic chemicals like THMs, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, VOCs, PCBs, MTBEs.
Stage 3: A 1 micron filter pad (1/25,000th of an inch), which removes suspended particles such as silt, sediment, sand, rust, and dirt.
Stage 4 & 5: Are KDF-55 and KDF-85. KDF is a zinc and copper combination that creates an oxidation-reduction (REDOX) reaction to purify your water. KDF reduces chlorine to harmless chloride and removes heavy metals like lead from your water.
Stage 6: This stage adds ceramic filtration.
Stage 7: Another granulated activated carbon stage filters any chemicals that survived the first stage.
Stage 8: A 1 micron filter pad (1/25,000th of an inch), which removes suspended particles such as silt, sediment, sand, rust, and dirt.
Stage 9: An UltraFiltration membrane that filters out contaminants larger than 0.01 microns in size, which includes colloids, proteins, bacteria, parasites, protozoa and many other contaminants.
