I Have a Water Softener, Will This Still Help?
If your water still leaves your shower stained, causes a soap scum buildup, or has a sulfur (rotten egg) smell, a shower filter can finish the job your water softener started.
How Often Will I Need to Replace the Cartridge?
The cartridge replacement interval is not an exact science with well water because of varying mineral and metal levels in well water.
Since your well water and your shower usage will be consistent over time, use the following process to determine your unique replacement interval.
Mark the date of shower filter installation on your calendar.
If you get the Sprite High Output or Sprite Royale All-In-One, every 30 days, remove the cartridge for inspection (compare it to a new cartridge) and re-install the cartridge in the reverse direction. This forces the water through the cartridge in the opposite direction to extend it's useful live.
Watch for signs that the cartridge needs to be replaced:
- Gradual return of the problems that led you to install your shower filter.
- Reduced water flow throught the shower filter (indicates clogging of the filter).
Next time, replace your cartridge about a week sooner than you notice any of the above signs, then repeat the process to find the optimal replacement interval.
