Doulton Sterasyl Ceramic filter to remove particles down to 0.9 micron, which eliminates sediment, dirt, rust, and cysts like giardia and cryptosporidium
16 oz. of KDF-55 filtration media to remove heavy metals and chlorine, which is typically the most concentrated chemical in municipal water

Doulton Sterasyl Ceramic has silver incorporated into the ceramic material to inhibit the growth of bacteria, so you don't have to boil the filter periodically like other ceramic filters
KDF-55 media turns chlorine and disinfection by-products into harmless chloride ions and ozone
KDF-55 also leaves trace amounts of zinc and copper in the water, which make it difficult for bacteria, algae, fungi, and viruses to grow in the resulting water
Leaves healthy minerals like calcium and magnesium in the water for great tasting water that's also good for you
Cartridge lasts 2 years when cleaned with a brush as other cartridges are replaced
